We have chosen our place to live and work, an old farmhouse abandoned in the 60', which has been through a careful reconstruction and restoration with eco friendly techniques, it's view ,open on the surrounding hills, is one of our prides
After three years of work the place is finally ready and now is our base camp to go out and explore Urbino is less than 10 min away and it can also be reached by city bus , car or bike, and the Cesane Regional Forest, a stretch of 10 mi of uninterrupted woods starts just above us The Cesane forest is a perfect place to hike , bike or ride and it spraws between Urbino and Fossombrone , an old roman town with its charming old centre and ruins dating back 2000 and more years. Our place is not a relays de charm , a nest of luxury where the guest come and get stranded by the pool reading a book, but I like to think to it more like a stage post for the guest going out to explore everyday, but the house has more than 15 acres of private land all around available for guests if they do not want to wander too far Perhaps a visit on Google earth will enlighten you, somehow there are so many options that it is even difficult sometimes to decide what to do What we plan to do now is to explore our area on horseback, bike and APE trying to offer the best mix of natural beauty, art , historical artifact ,there is no better way to travel across such a country Here we can find a huge network of paths and dirt roads which link fort to fort , village to village and abbeys to hermitages We are always welcome to stay for a chat or a glass of wine with the locals during our tour Watch out for the guard geese! They may be cute but there is a dark side! They guard our house , dating back from 1850, partially restored and partially rebuilt in the last two years
